Our Story
Well
- when we arrived in Magoebaskloof it was at the time they
were closing the tea estates and literally thousands of
families were going to be affected - those on the estate
itself and those in secondary industries - packaging, maintenance
and repair, conveyor belting, transport, education etc. UNEMPLOYMENT
screamed at us and the helpless situation of our local
people was a great worry.
Local
people are willing to work and need opportunity and
training - since the home economics skills are no longer
taught in schools we started sewing projects and trained
young local women to sew - This was hugely successful
BUT they were all snapped up by Gauteng Companies for
their skills and we do not have the reserves to continue
to pay for training.
We have
two ladies and one man who multi task on Applegrange
and when we are not busy about domestic activities, we
are baking, sewing or re-upholstering.
We specialize in:
- Delicious home made pies and cakes and catering
- Sewing - curtains, linen
- Upholstery - do up your old furniture
- Draping and event co-ordination.
